After an amazing week off I’m catching up to what happened in Cannes and found this brilliant Gran Prix winning activation.

I think it’s a superb activation, not much of what comes out of ad agencies saves lives.

Heinz vs. Organs

I think this ad have been on most advertising blogs, the Heinz garlic sauce ad, well it’s not the ad that’s special, it’s the placement – the classifieds.

But this down here actually came first. And I really think it’s the better one, it was placed in the obituaries.

There’s much more power and emotion in this one. Instead of just scaring away people with your breath you’re saving lives. And I think it puts organ donation into perspective. It’s not like you’ll save one person, if you’re a healthy none junkie person you might even save eight. 8 people, that’s fucking amazing.

Yes I do think the Heinz ad is great as well. It just doesn’t beat the original this time. They play on the same visual idea, but the executions are very different. I wouldn’t call the idea stolen. This is a great example of a borrowed idea that was made into something that fit a completely different product in an ad with a completely different tone of voice.
